Workshop
on Investigative Journalism
The
South East European Network for the Professionalization of the Media (SEENPM)
organized in Tirana, Albania from 5 to 9 of December the workshop on
Investigative Journalism for trainers from the region. Some 16
participants from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia,
Hungary, Moldova, Rumania, Slovenia, and Serbia attended the course
organized by the Albanian Media Institute. Though the investigative
journalism is such a broad topic, the course focused on the
investigative concept, documentation and the paper trail. The workshop
treated issues like: "obstacles facing investigative journalism
in each country, "the broad definition of investigative
journalism as both methods and content", "the investigative
journalism tool box - with focus on the paper trail", "the
investigative process and the need for editorial cooperation on major
investigative stories", "research approaches and editorial
cooperation", etc. The group held useful discussions about all
the issues, some of the participants presented their own examples on
investigative stories they had worked before and all the participants
discussed about it. The lecturer was Lars Moller from the Danish
School of Journalism.
The
SEENPM consists of 17 media centers/institutes from the region. The
Danish Government and Open Society Institute, Budapest are the main
funders of the Network activities.
